Tonybet has become a firm favourite among Irish casino fans and sports bettors alike. Join us as we go inside the betting and casino operator’s third-time sponsorship of what could become a horse-racing classic at the Irish Champions Festival.
Tonybet Sports will once again have a prominent presence at one of the biggest weekends in the Irish racing calendar this September.
The international sports betting and online casino operator is returning to Leopardstown with a huge brand presence as the Irish Champions Festival gets underway, continuing a partnership that has now become a familiar part of the event.
With some of the biggest names in “flat” racing heading to Dublin for the opening day, there will be plenty of attention on the track. Tonybet, meanwhile, will have a race of its own to look forward to, yet again.
Tonybet will be back at Leopardstown Racecourse on Saturday, September 12, as title sponsor of the Group 2 Tonybet Solonaway Stakes.
It’s the third consecutive year that Tonybet has sponsored the race, underscoring the operator’s ongoing commitment to Irish racing.
The Solonaway Stakes itself has a much longer history. Originally known as the Boomerang Mile, the race was upgraded to Group 2 status in 2014 and has become an integral part of the Irish Champions Festival programme.
The betting provider first began sponsoring the race in 2024, so the 2026 renewal will be the third since their exciting foray into horseracing began.
There will be a little extra ceremony around this year's race, too. Tonybet has commissioned a custom-designed trophy which will be presented to the winning connections by former Republic of Ireland international footballer Tony Cascarino.
Cascarino will also take part in a live Q&A session at Leopardstown, allowing racegoers to hear from the former striker during the afternoon.
The Tonybet Solonaway Stakes is part of a formidable opening-day card at Leopardstown, with the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes among the Group 1 highlights. In fact, the 2026 festival promises to be bigger than ever, with three Group 1 contests taking place at Leopardstown.
The Irish Champions Festival is now in its 13th year and has become the showcase of the Irish flat season. More than €5 million in prize money is up for grabs across the two-day meeting, attracting leading horses, trainers, and jockeys from Ireland and further afield.
Saturday's action at Leopardstown will be followed by the second day at The Curragh on Sunday, September 13, where the Comer Group International Irish St Leger takes centre stage.
Apart from the spectacle of racing, there will be live music, hospitality and entertainment for those attending the festival.
Returning for a third year gives the betting operator another opportunity to put its name alongside one of the biggest sporting events on the Irish calendar.
Tonybet CEO Dmitry Arabuli said the company's continued involvement reflected the special place Irish racing holds with its supporters.
“Irish racing inspires a loyalty and passion that very few sports can match,” Arabuli said, adding that sponsoring the Solonaway Stakes for a third consecutive year “means a great deal to us.”
He also pointed to the strength of this year's festival, particularly with three Group 1 races now forming part of the opening-day programme. The previous two Tonybet Solonaway Stakes renewals have already given the operator plenty to celebrate, with Arabuli proudly stating:
“Tonybet is honoured to play its part in a great sporting weekend, and we look forward to September 12.”
With a major Group 1 race, a strong supporting card and Tony Cascarino among the day's attractions, the opening day of the Irish Champions Festival looks set to provide another glittering showcase for Irish online gambling.
