First Steps in Online Gambling
The world of online gambling is exciting and diverse. New players can navigate the online gaming world more easily with our beginners guide.
1. Finding the casino that's right for you
Casinos come in all shapes and sizes, colours and designs. Some are more serious and geared towards professional gamblers while others are jazzy, artsy and light, geared towards the frivolous player who's just looking for a little fun.
The secret is to find the one that's right for you.
In order to help you, we've put together a list of online casinos that we've found to be trustworthy, friendly, original and fun.
Of course, all the venues listed here accept Euros and transfers from Irish banks.
2. Downloading casino software
The majority of casinos request that you download their software and then use their program to play from your computer, rather than playing through an internet browser.
Downloading the package is generally a very easy process. All you need to do is click on the "Download" option and your computer will do the rest, maybe asking for you to press "OK" once or twice.
Once downloaded and installed, the casino program will usually allow faster game play and will run more smoothly.
3. Installing casino software
Having downloaded the casinos software package, it will cause a window to pop up asking you if you'd like to install the program. Click "Yes" and the Install Wizard will do the rest, although it will ask you to press "OK" a few times and to choose your preferred settings.
Once fully set up, the program will either launch automatically or you may have to double-click on the icon that appears on your desktop.
4. Creating a casino account
Once you run the casino program, it'll ask you to set up an account. There are two main types of accounts that all casinos offer: real money and guest accounts. Both accounts allow you to play the same games, only with the guest account, you're wagering with fake money.
Guest accounts: this is an excellent option for beginners and provides them with a great way to learn how to play the games. While you do submit your name and e-mail address, you don't have to give them your bank info, meaning that no cash is ever transferred.
Real money accounts: differing from the guest account, real money means real money. Having selected this option, you'll be moved to a secure server and asked to provide additional information, such as your postal address, bank details and copy of an identity card.
Following this process, you'll be invited to make a deposit with the cashier. Note that the deposit process is never automatic and always requires your approval, as a way of keeping the transactions safe.
5. Let the games begin!
Thank goodness, the paperwork is all out of the way and it's time to sit down and start having some fun! From their welcome page, you'll be able to choose your favourite casino games and start playing. Just be sure to read the rules first and refer to our game guides if you'd like some extra information on rules and strategy.
