Murray Second in Wimbledon Odds

Federer was the top favorite even before Nadal pulled out of the tournament.
By | Jun 21, 2009

Until Rafael Nadal pulled out of the Wimbledon 2009 competition, where he was seeded number one, 5 time champion Roger Federer was seeded second. What will be the fate of Andy Murray, second in the bookmakers' odds: will he triumph in the end as well?

Nadal's departure has left the stage - or shall we say Centre Court - to three tennis players: Roger Federer, Andrew Murray and Novak Djokovic. They are the top three on any sportsbetting site today.

The 2009 Wimbledon tennis tournament begins June 22. Federer and murray will meet only in the Finals, if they both make it. That is what the odds predict them to do, with the Swiss champ a 10/11 favorite on most all sports betting sites, and 8/11 on William Hill Sports, which makes Murray's run for the title a little more likely in the eyes of the UK bookmaker.

The Englishman enjoys 15/8 odds on William Hill Sports, ahead of Djokovic at 10/1. Following them is American Andy Roddick - at 14/1.

Victor Chandler Bet, however, takes on the London and sportsbetting Murray-mania in another way, accepting bets on the specific category of what stage will Murray drop out of the competition.
